The Post page is where all the magic happens. PostDart lets you compose once and publish to multiple platforms simultaneously — saving you hours of repetitive work. Whether you're a solo creator sharing a quick update or an agency managing dozens of client accounts, the Post editor is designed to handle it all.
In this guide, we'll walk through every step of creating, customizing, and publishing your first post — from writing the caption to monitoring its success across platforms.
Getting to the Post Editor
Click Post in the sidebar to open the post editor. The page is organized into clear sections: the content editor at the top, media upload area, platform selection, and publishing options at the bottom. Everything you need is on one page — no tabs, no modal windows, no confusion.
Writing Your Content
The text editor is where your post begins. Start typing your caption, description, or message. The editor supports everything you'd expect: hashtags (#), mentions (@), links, and emoji.
As you type, you'll notice a character counter in the corner. Different platforms have different character limits — Twitter/X allows 280 characters, Facebook supports up to 63,206, and Instagram caps at 2,200. The counter helps you stay within bounds for each platform you're targeting.
A content quality indicator is displayed prominently, showing the completion percentage of your post. It factors in whether you've added media, written a title, crafted a description, and included tags. Each element contributes to a higher quality score, and posts with 100% quality scores consistently get better engagement.
Adding Media — Images and Videos
Click the upload area (or drag and drop) to attach media files. PostDart supports a wide range of formats:
You can upload multiple files to create a carousel or gallery. The order you upload them in is the order they'll appear on the platform.
Important format notes by platform:
For YouTube posts, you'll see additional fields appear when you select YouTube as a target: custom thumbnail upload, video title, full description field, tags input, and privacy status selector (public, unlisted, or private). These YouTube-specific fields give you complete control over how your video appears on the platform.
Choosing Your Target Platforms
In the "Publish To" card, you'll see toggles for each connected platform. Click to enable the platforms you want to publish to — an active toggle shows a colored checkmark.
If you have multiple accounts on the same platform (e.g., two Facebook Pages), you can select which specific accounts receive the post. This is incredibly useful for agencies or businesses with multiple brand Pages.
You need at least one connected account for each platform you select. If a platform appears grayed out, visit the Connect page to link an account first.
Platform Overrides — Customize Per Platform
Here's where PostDart really shines. Click Platform Overrides to expand a section where you can write a completely different caption for each platform.
Why would you want this? Because each platform has its own culture and best practices:
With platform overrides, you write the base caption once and then fine-tune the version each platform receives. The override completely replaces the base caption for that platform — it's not appended.
Publishing Options — Now, Later, or Draft
You have three publishing options, each designed for a different workflow:
Publish Now — Click the publish button and your post goes live immediately across all selected platforms. A real-time publish tracker appears, showing the status for each platform: pending → publishing → success or failed. You can see exactly which platforms succeeded and which (if any) encountered issues.
Schedule for Later — Click the schedule option to pick a future date and time. PostDart provides quick-pick buttons for the most common scheduling choices:
You can also use the full date/time picker for precise scheduling. PostDart's background task runner checks for scheduled posts every 60 seconds and auto-publishes them when the time arrives. Your scheduled posts are guaranteed to go out within a 60-second window of the scheduled time.
Save as Draft — Not ready to publish? Save your work as a draft. Everything is preserved: your caption, media files, platform selections, overrides, and scheduling preferences. Come back later to finish and publish.
Previewing Your Post
Before hitting publish, click the Preview button to see a platform-accurate mockup of how your post will look on each selected platform. The preview renders your caption, media, and metadata exactly as users will see it in their feeds.
This is invaluable for catching formatting issues, overly long captions, or media that doesn't look right at certain aspect ratios. A 30-second preview check can save you from publishing embarrassing mistakes.
After Publishing — Monitoring Performance
Once your post is published, it appears in the main post list on the dashboard. Each post shows:
PostDart continuously pulls fresh engagement data in the background, so your metrics stay up-to-date. You can also visit the Leaderboard to see how each post ranks against your other content.
Post Publishing Failures — What to Do
Occasionally, a post may fail to publish on one or more platforms. Common reasons include:
When a failure occurs, PostDart shows a clear error message with the reason. You can fix the issue and re-publish from the post detail page without re-entering all your content.
Pro Tips for Better Posts
Use the quality indicator: Aim for 100% by filling in every field — title, description, media, and tags. Higher-quality posts consistently get better engagement across all platforms.
Leverage overrides: Don't just copy-paste the same caption everywhere. Instagram users expect hashtags, Facebook users want conversation starters, and YouTube viewers need SEO-rich descriptions.
Schedule during peak hours: Use AI Studio's Smart Schedule feature to find when your specific audience is most active, then schedule posts for those windows.
Batch create content: Set aside one session to create a week's worth of posts as drafts, then schedule them all at once. This is far more efficient than creating content every day.
Always preview: Spend 30 seconds previewing before publishing. It catches 90% of mistakes.
